Jess Preston, MA, RCC

I’m really glad you’ve found your way here.

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor and the Clinical Director of Reverie Therapy. Based in Maple Ridge, BC, I offer both in-person and online counselling for adult individuals and couples across the Greater Vancouver area.

In my practice, I take an integrative, intuitive approach, weaving together holistic, trauma-informed, and client-centred care. This flexibility allows me to tailor support in a way that truly fits each client’s unique needs, and I always welcome questions and conversations about the approaches we use together.

With over eight years of university-level education and a profound passion for mental health, I am honoured to walk alongside clients as they navigate the many seasons and complexities of life.

At the heart of my work is a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space, one that encourages self-reflection, self-discovery, and meaningful growth. Here, you will be empowered to share your experiences in your own words, discuss your goals, and feel cared for, validated, and gently encouraged to work toward life-affirming change. Societal expectations can weigh heavily on each of us, and we all need supportive resources. It would be an honour to be a part of your journey.

  • I work with adults navigating many aspects of life, including:

    Relationships & Family

    • Couples counselling and relationship support

    • Parenting and family transitions

    Life & Emotional Wellbeing

    • Stress, anxiety, and depression

    • Grief and loss

    • Major life transitions

    Perinatal & Parenting Journeys

    • Fertility challenges, pregnancy, and postpartum

    • Birth trauma, pregnancy loss, and stillbirth

    • Abortion support

    • Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders

    • Navigating parenthood and family planning

  • I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a member in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, graduating with honours in 2024, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Counselling & Human Development from Simon Fraser University.

Through my commitment to lifelong learning, I have completed additional training and professional development, including:

    • Gottman Method Couples Therapy: Level I & II (Certified)

    • Gottman Method Bringing Home Baby Educator (Certified)

    • Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care

This ongoing training allows me to bring both depth and specialized expertise to my work with clients, particularly in the areas of perinatal mental health, relationships, and parenting.

  • As a highly sensitive person (HSP), I understand the world through a lens of deep empathy, awareness, and emotional attunement. High sensitivity is a temperament trait found in about 15–20% of the population, characterized by heightened responsiveness to external stimuli, emotional depth, and a rich inner life. This trait deeply informs my work as a counsellor, allowing me to connect with clients on a nuanced and compassionate level.

If you’ve ever felt particularly sensitive to stimuli such as light, sound, texture, or the emotional energy of others — or if you tend to process experiences deeply and need time to recharge — you may relate to the trait of high sensitivity. I’m here to support you as you explore what this might mean for you — how it may have shaped your life and view of self, and how small, intentional changes might help you thrive. I offer a calm, supportive space where sensitivity is valued and can become a source of strength and insight.
If you're curious about how high sensitivity may be affecting your life — or simply want to better understand this part of yourself — I invite you to reach out to learn more about how therapy can support you.

  • I work with adults navigating life and relationship challenges, including grief, stress, trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Areas of added focus include couples counselling, perinatal mental health, and parenting. As a married parent to two young children, I have personal experience in many of these areas myself.

If we work together, my goal is to create a safe and therapeutically guided space where you feel seen and supported. You will be encouraged to share your story in your own words, explore your goals, and work toward meaningful, life-affirming change. Sensitivity and emotional depth can become powerful tools for growth when supported with intention, and I aim to help you discover and use these strengths.

If you are ready to get started, or simply curious to learn more, I invite you to reach out. I would be honoured to be part of your self-care team.
